Incorporating novels, selected non-fiction, and poetry, English 3 explores American Literature while continuing to develop students' rhetorical skills and vocabulary through emphasis on Common Core skills and instructional strategies. Continuing the school-wide writing program, students compose and revise persuasive and expository/analytical essays in formal academic mode. In addition, oral history, art, and multi-media projects  offer opportunities for learning.  In each year, Independent Reading programs are an important part of the English curriculum.Preparation for the SAT and EAP examinations is an element of the curriculum.
