EDT Students to Scan the Blue Wing Adobe!
At the end of April, all students in the EDT pathway will take part in the 3D scanning and archival of the Blue Wing Adobe site in downtown Sonoma. The Blue Wing Adobe dates back to the early 1800's, and once served as the military quarters for future Civil War veterans. The site has since served as a hotel for miners during the Gold Rush, and as storage facilities for local wine-makers.

Using 3D scanners provided by CyArk (an international company which performed the 3D scanning and archival of the Sonoma Mission in August 2013), students will scan the interior and exterior of the Blue Wing Adobe. After performing the necessary scans, students will use the Engineering computer lab on the SVHS campus to turn their scans into a digitial, 3D image of the site. In the case that the site is damaged or destroyed, historians can use these 3D images to reconstruct the site, down to the exact geographical location of each point of construction.
