Spring Sports:  The deadline to sign up for is Wednesday, January 31.  A completed sport packet must be on file with the Student Activities Office no later than 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31 to be cleared for the first day of tryouts and practices on Monday, February 5.  If you played a fall sport or are playing a winter sport, you also must sign up at the Student Activities Office by the January 31 deadline.  Spring sports offered this year are: Baseball (all levels), Boys Golf, Softball (JV & V), Swimming (Boys & Girls), Boys Tennis and Track (Boys & Girls).

Friday, January 26, 2018 changing from Staff Development Day to Student Instructional Day - Due to the October fires, our students missed several days of instruction. To reduce the number of instructional days missed, the district did change the October 30th staff development day to an instructional day for students and is now changing the Friday, January 26th staff development day to an instructional day. Please note this change on your calendar. Friday, January 26, 2018 will be a regular instructional day for all staff and students.

Mauna Kea’s student of the week is Austin Jagdfeld for doing amazing in his academics and for helping out other students in class.

Congratulations to Kole Morgan winning $300 for making the Mary’s Slice Shack Half Court Shot at the Girls Basketball game last Wednesday night!  Come try your luck for the half court shot at each Girls and Boys home league games.  Go Dragons!

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  Chromebook hard shell covers are available for purchase at a discounted price of $15 for your model (3120) in the Library of Student Activities office.  To avoid costly fees, Chromebooks must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers or labels.  You can personalize your Chromebook cover.

Seniors!  Want to be a fuzzier, runner or security guard at convention?  Application are available in I3 starting Tuesday, January 16th and must be turned in to Mr. Jones by Friday, February 23rd.  Pick up an application as soon as possible to secure your spot as part of 2018 Convention.

Interested in running for slate at Convention?  Get a group of 3 together plus a campaign manager and pick up a Convention packet from Mr. Jones in I3,  starting Tuesday, January 16th.  You must turn in your completed packet by Wednesday, January 31st.  Any questions please talk to the current slate or any leadership students or Mr. Jones.

Salad bar is available in place of hot lunch selection also.  Mini bars are available when lunch is purchased or if student is on Lunch program.

With any Lunch – Fresh fruit and vegetable bar included. We have pesto pasta daily. Salad bar prices are student $2.50/Adult $3.00

COLLEGE and CAREER **Please stop by the CCC for more information**

CSF applications are now open!  Applications are available in the CCC and at the Student Activities window.  The cost to join is $10.  Deadline to apply is Friday, February 2nd.  To learn more about CSF,  see Mrs. Conner in the CCC.

Attention Seniors:  There is still time to apply to Southern Oregon University!  an admissions officer will be on campus on Tuesday, January 23rd from 1-3 pm in the CCC to help you with your application.  They will waive the application fee too.

Sophomores and Juniors please pick up your PSAT scores in the College & Career Center.

Seniors -  Do you need money for college?  All scholarships are listed on Naviance for 24/7 access.  We also have a new Scholarship corner in the CCC,  stop by and see what we have to offer.

Seniors who applied to 4-year colleges! Make sure to send official SAT or ACT scores to the colleges you applied to. Don't wait until winter break! Stop by the CCC for help.

Want to learn skills to work in the food industry?  Join the ServSafe and Service Etiquette Class the last Monday of the month Monday, January 29th.  Classes will be held at Teen Services in Sonoma 17440 Sonoma Hwy.  To register please call 707-939-1452.

SVHS Boosters Annual Crab Feed Join us at the 2018 SVHS Boosters Crab Feed & Auction on Saturday, February 3rd, at the Sonoma Veteran’s Building. Tickets available now for limited VIP Seating ($85 per ticket) and General Seating ($65 per ticket). Purchase early, this event sells out every year!

Two parent representatives needed on District committees, one for CAC/DAC and one for DELAC.  Are you interested in being involved at the District level?  If yes, please consider nominating yourself or another parent for the Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC/DAC), and/or if you are a parent of an English Learner, for District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).  Both committees meet once a month.  CAC/DAC meets regularly one Thursday a month @ 4:00p and DELAC meets one Monday a month @ 6:00p.  If you are interested, please contact Danielle Contreras at for more information.
