I've lived in Sonoma for practically my entire life and am proud to have attended Flowery, Altimira, and then Sonoma High School. I graduated in 1997 and then went onto pursue my basic undergraduate studies at Santa Rosa Junior College. I transferred out to University of Hawaii, Manoa, where I majored in Mathematics. I returned to Sonoma and attended Sonoma State University to get my Single Subject teaching credential in math. After teaching for a couple of years, I went back to school through Walden University to get a Master's degree in Mathematics Education.
I am married to Matthew Purtell, another Sonoma native, and we have a daughter, Mari, who attends Flowery Elementary School.
